ABOUT US
Hey, I'm Mark, the founder and lead developer of VizDev.
I worked for years as a cybersecurity researcher and consultant, the kind of work where you're handed an unfamiliar codebase on Monday and expected to deliver a critical vulnerability on Friday. I got to do fun cybersecurity work like this in the military, at a startup, at a consulting firm, and as a private consultant.
But I kept running into the same thing: every time I needed to explain code to someone, whether a client, a student, a colleague, I'd end up drawing diagrams. Boxes and arrows on whiteboards or custom visuals in slide decks I spent way too long making. I wasn't alone. Everyone I worked with wanted pictures to help explain code, but our tools forced us to deal with walls of text.
So I started building something for myself.
Turns out it was more useful than I'd thought it would be, instantly showing which functions call each other and which parts of the codebase are actually interesting. Whether you're trying to navigate some ancient legacy system or just trying to make sense of your first large project, you should be able to see code the way it actually works, instead of having to read it like a "choose your own adventure" book.
I'm building VizDev because I love making difficult work easy, and I believe we can make understanding code easier and more intuitive.
